Rebuilding Together is a non-profit organization that brings together volunteers to positively impact the community. Their goal is to “improve homes, inspire neighbors, and unite communities.” They choose local families who are truly in need of some extra help and then bring together the right people to get the job done. Here at Able Roof, there is nothing more important to us than making a positive difference in the community, so we partner with Rebuilding Together to donate our time, effort, and construction experience in order to help someone in need. Becoming stewards of the community is at the core of who we are, and we are committed to working hard to make that mission a reality.
The Project
Every year Rebuilding Together chooses a family in the community who could really use some extra help. This year we volunteered to help out the Jewett family. Mr. Jewett is a retired mechanic and Mrs. Jewett a retired a stay-at-home mom who raised their three children. For the last 7 years, Mr. Jewett has been bedridden and Mrs. Jewett is suffering from joint problems in her hips. They are unable to maintain some of the more laborious tasks around the home, including exterior repairs and remodeling. Mrs. Jewett and her husband have lived in their home for almost 50 years, and to them, it is more than just a physical building, it is where they raised their children and where they have decided to retire. We were honored to be given the opportunity to use our skills in exterior remodeling to make a difference for their family.
